Their mid-weight boots are suitable for day hikes on reasonably rough terrain. The fact that these are mostly leather hiking boots ensures that they are built for longevity and what’s more they’re comfortable to wear straight from the box.
Upper Material
These female hiking boots are made from full grain leather and suede with a durable mesh tongue to improve breathability.
Colours
They are available in a wide variety of colours including,

- Elk/Mountain Red – A more traditional colour brown with red laces
- Oxford Tan/Flame – A light tan colour
- Nori/Cloudburst – Traditional green
- Whale/Zing – A blend of medium blue/grey with a pinky orange trim.
Midsole
The lightweight, durable midsole gives excellent cushioning and long lasting comfort. However, it also provides enough stability for those more challenging hikes.
Outer sole and traction
The outer sole is made from rubber, and its design has advanced traction to ensure that you have slip free movement in harsh conditions. The dual-zone winter tread pattern provides excellent grip when walking on surfaces such as ice and snow
Waterproof
The waterproof exterior gives excellent protection against rain, mud and trail dirt. With these boots, your feet will stay drive even when walking through puddles. When fully submerged water does seep in through the tongue, but overall they do hold up to their waterproof claim.

Verdict
For the price these ankle high, leather all weather hiking boots offer excellent value for money and are one of the most comfortable hiking boots to wear straight from the box.

Midsole
One of the best features is the shock absorbing air cushion heel, this coupled with the cushioned collar and supportive footbed ensure that these are comfortable hiking shoes. They also have an M select impermeable membrane which seals out water and lets your moisture escape.
Outer sole and traction
The outer sole is made from Vibram and with lugs that are 4.5mm deep they give good traction. Vibram is the leading manufacturer in sole traction, and the strategic positioning on these shoes means that trekking through muddy and rocky trails is not a problem. They also shed off debris as you move which makes cleaning easier.
Waterproof
There is a waterproof version of this shoe you can check out the price here, but these boots are more water resistant than properly waterproof.
Stability
Although these hiking shoes are flexible and agile, they do give good support to your feet over varied ground conditions. Thanks to the shock absorbing air cushioned heel pad your heal is held firmly to the midsole which prevents movement of the underfoot. However, being a shoe, they offer little ankle support. Instead, they provide good ankle flexibility which is great for steep angled slopes or descents and for jumping across obstacles.
Verdict
The technology in these shoes is fantastic and incredibly good value for money especially as the soles are Vibram. Hiking boots and shoes in this price bracket don’t always include such technology.

Material
These hiking shoes are made from suede leather and mesh. They also have a top cap to protect against debris on the trail, and the padded tongue and collar offer additional comfort. The loop on the heal is a nice touch as it allows the shoes to be quickly put on and taken off.

-
Midsole
The shoe has a lightweight, durable midsole which provides long-lasting comfort, and the excellent cushioning gives a high energy return making this one of the best trail running shoes for hiking.
Outer sole and traction
The rubber sole and Omni grip technology in this footwear results in a reasonable grip although they perform at their best on well-kept terrain.
Waterproof
The waterproofing breathable seam-sealed membrane performs exceptionally well, hence why I’ve chosen the Columbia Redmond as the best water shoes for hiking. Even when you wiggle your feet around while standing in a reasonably deep puddle, these shoes will keep your feet dry. They are waterproof to a depth of just over 4 inches which is excellent for a shoe.
Stability
The support within this shoe is limited, and there is no internal shank. That said they are very flexible which makes jumping and slopes lighter work. They also have excellent breathability ensuring that your feet don’t get hot and sweaty.
Verdict
These are perfect for day hikers especially if the terrain is flat but wet after heavy rain. They are, however, not so great if you have a wide foot or require good arch support.

The impact-absorbing compression moulded EVA (ethyl vinyl acetate) midsole makes the inside well cushioned and ensures these boots are very comfortable. There’s also an Ortholite sock liner which is treated with an antimicrobial that keeps your feet feeling fresh and cool throughout the day.
Outer sole and traction
This is a boot made for the muddiest paths and deepest puddles. Its rubber outsole which has multi-directional traction gives a good grip and improves the durability of the boot. The design prevents the build-up of mud and the space between the studs helps channel the water which prevents you from slipping or falling.
Waterproof
The waterproof Dri-Tec membrane ensures that your feet stay warm, dry and comfortable even in a wet environment. The layer uses microscopic pores which allows moisture to escape while protecting the foot from getting wet.
Stability
These light hiking boots enable you to keep good balance while trekking and the nylon shank gives additional support. The toe and heel areas have reinforcing leather caps which not only protect your feet, but it also improves the durability of the shoe and its resistance to abrasion.
Verdict
Even though these are not the lightest boots in this review when you take into consideration their durability, comfort and lightness I do think these are the best lightweight waterproof hiking boots you can buy for under 100 dollars.
